Client
Our Client is a global financial services company with a focus on insurance solutions covering personal and business products;
Position
Work will include reviewing contracts for material legal clauses and updating legal contract registers. The key focus will also be general administrative tasks that fall under the remit of the corporate governance team.
The successful candidate will report to the General Counsel and will support the business on a wide variety of corporate and financial services matters. Paralegals will provide specialist, commercially savvy and tailored legal support to business stakeholders in achieving both the strategic and operational objectives of the organisation.
Job Responsibilities
Provide support to financial services lawyers in the execution of legal tasks including research, writing, and compliance analysis.
Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents with regulatory authorities.
Conduct legal research and prepare memos on various matters related to financial services & insurance regulations.
Review and summarize contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
Support the team in managing transactional processes and corporate governance matters.
Coordinate with service providers to gather necessary information and documentation.
Maintain and organize case files and legal documentation in a systematic manner.
Monitor deadlines and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Participate in board meetings as necessary and assist in the preparation of meeting minutes.
Continuously update personal knowledge of financial services law and industry practices.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate is in their 3rd or 4th year of study (graduating no earlier than 2026)
Can demonstrate an understanding of in house legal practice and financial services law.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research databases.
Desired Experience
Previous experience as a paralegal, obtained either in private practice law firms or in house.
Experience with corporate governance and compliance matters.
Familiarity with legal documentation and regulatory frameworks in Australia.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Contract
The contract period is 4 months. You will be required to work 3 days per week. The client has historically offered extensions to the initial contract however this is always subject to performance.
You should assume that this is an in person role requring attendance at the firm's North Sydney office 3 days per week. Hybrid flexible working may be offered to you in time but should not be requested and is at the client's discretion.
