Your Role
The primary purpose of this role is to work within the Underwriting team to contribute to the achievement of department and corporate goals relative to profit, growth, service producer and client relations. This role is designed to provide the individual with a strong foundation of underwriting knowledge and industry experience to support a career pathway in insurance.
This will include, but not limited to, learning our end-to-end underwriting process, understanding how we assess and manage risk and how we build long term relationships with brokers and clients.
Your Responsibilities:
Underwriting
- Assist Underwriters in acheieving new business, rate and retention targets for assigned book of business to support the achievement of revenue and profit goals via a number of key accountabilities, including:
- Assist with preparation for account reviews with Underwriters/management, demonstrating knowledge of risk, industry, competitive environment and Chubb’s products and capabilities
- Assist Underwriters in managing sales pipeline to identify and develop new business prospects
- Assist Underwriters in providing input on underwriting results, profit analysis, market environment, competitor analysis and as required for ad hoc reports and projects.
Underwriting Quality & Compliance
- Adhere to appropriate underwriting, compliance and file documentation standards and workflows to support the achievement of revenue and profit goals.
Evaluate and make recommendation for acceptance or declination on risks based on existing referral guidlines
Recommend account trade off decisions.
Service Delivery & Quality Adherence
- Build good working relationships with local underwriting teams and ensure that local underwriting management are regularly communicated with and kept updated on appropriate issues
- Build good working relationships with third party provider, proactively monitor and support the completion of outsourced processes, ensuring agreed service standards and quality levels are met
- To support the Underwriting community through liaison with and participation at meetings with brokers, internal departments and external advisers
- To provide general assistance to underwriters for broker and/or client visits and other administrative duties as agreed with Operations Team Leader/Supervisor
- To independently handle requests and queries from customers where appropriate and coordinate with appropriate departments and staff to resolve first level customer complaints
- To adhere to robust Quality Framework standards and procedures
- To work within the framework of our ethical and service standards
Qualifications
- Financial and company analysis skills
- Competent in Microsoft Office and Outlook. Excellent general computer literacy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills both in verbal and written forms
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong customer service skills and customer centric attitude
- Strong attention to detail and the desire to deliver and improve quality
- Demonstrated experience working with data sets
- Problem resolution and decision making skills
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as on own initiative
- Experience working to deadlines/SLA's
- Well-developed analytical and organisational skills
