Optus takes charge of its future by embracing new technology and innovation, embodying a challenger brand. Optus Wholesale & Satellite is seeking a Commercial Contracts Manager to join our team in Sydney.
As a Commercial Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for contract drafting and overseeing legal and commercial customer contract issues in relation to the Wholesale division.
You will manage, coordinate, and oversee the contractual aspects of the customer relationship. You will play an integral role in the Division by providing key support to all members of the Optus Wholesale team in respect of drafting of contracts and other legal documentation, risk management, and commercially sensitive matters affecting the business.
The Day to Day
• Contract governance, negotiation and drafting - Implementing and continually improving the Contract Governance Process which tracks contracts through end-to-end from contract draft request to post-signatory storage. Responsible for ensuring that all governance processes are followed before contracts are signed by relevant internal teams and Commercial Directors/leaders.
• Legal support - Working closely with the Legal team, the Commercial Contracts Manager provides the first level of legal support to the Optus Wholesale team.
• Credit and risk control and dispute management - Ensuring commercial contracts minimise Optus’ exposure to operational, legal, financial and credit risks. Commercial Contracts Manager will prepare documentation relating to settlement of commercial disputes with customers.
• Contract management - Negotiation and drafting of all customer contracts, including service notifications, variation agreements, promotion letters and termination agreements. Drafting and negotiating contracts to align with the applicable Sale Contracts Policy.
• Regulatory engagement - Interface with Optus regulatory on key regulatory issues affecting Optus involving strategic, operational and technical issues.
• Leadership – being a trusted advisor and partner to the Optus Wholesale team.
About you
• Legal drafting experience and preferably a legal academic background
• Extensive years of relevant work experience in contract drafting, negotiation, legal and compliance.
• Leadership – being a trusted advisor and partner to the Optus Wholesale team.
• Proven attention to detail, excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision or assistance.
• Commercial foundations and business acumen.
• Contract negotiation experience in a matrix environment.
• Understanding of telecommunications operations and/or a wholesale environment is desirable
