Civil Engineer - Geotechnical / Retaining Structures
Location: Sydney, NSW (with extended remote work or night shift flexibility)

About the Role
We're seeking a hands-on Civil Engineer to act as the eyes and ears on site for the Project Lead. This is a boots-on-the-ground role—no supervision of crews required—but it demands diligence, organisation, and a sharp eye for detail.
You will:
- Keep an accurate daily diary of site activities and observations.
- Plan ahead with a six-day look-ahead schedule.
- Work closely with crew leaders, drillers, and site engineers.
- Operate independently while maintaining close communication with the Project Lead.
- Be flexible to work from home for 3-4 months at a time or undertake night shifts as required.
- Undergo an intensive onboarding period designed to test your resilience and suitability.
- Shotcreting experience on slopes and retaining structures.
- Rope access capability for inspections and works.
- Knowledge of R64-R68 geological/rock classifications or similar.
- Field experiences working with crew leaders, drillers, and site engineers on geotechnical or retaining projects.
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to anticipate site needs.
- Strong people skills—someone with the communication style and adaptability.
- Observant, diligent, and committed to high standards of safety and quality.
