About the Role
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused individual to join our asbestos laboratory team as a Trainee Asbestos Identifier. This is a rare opportunity to enter one of the most highly regulated and specialised sections of our lab, with full training provided.
This is an entry-level position with a structured development pathway designed to equip you with the technical knowledge and skills required to become a fully qualified Asbestos Identifier.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing asbestos samples for analysis in accordance with lab protocols
- Support fibre counting using Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) under supervision
- Participate in training for basic asbestos identification using Polarised Light Microscopy (PLM)
- Maintain accurate documentation and data entry into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Strictly follow safety, quality and WHS protocols
Skills And Experiences
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Detail-oriented, adaptable and eager to learn
- Comfortable working in a highly regulated lab environment
- A strong team player with clear communication skills
- Willing to work with hazardous materials under strict safety supervision
- Familiar with basic laboratory or science concepts
- Degree is Science is preferred
No prior asbestos experience is required – just a willingness to commit to your training and growth.
