Overview:
This role is responsible for providing technical leadership, maintenance, and support for public communications networks. The successful candidate will lead and assist operational teams in identifying and resolving issues, managing network performance, and ensuring the reliability of communications services through proactive support and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to and resolve incidents and related problems within the communications network.
- Manage and review configuration and software changes across network infrastructure and field equipment, including conducting technical peer reviews.
- Escalate complex issues to support teams when necessary.
- Support field teams in conducting on-site maintenance and inspections.
- Identify issues beyond the scope of standard services and propose appropriate technical solutions or improvements.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to coordinate and complete support activities.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and support to internal teams involved in system maintenance and fault resolution.
- Work closely with network operations and customer service teams to address and resolve service-impacting issues within agreed timeframes.
- Identify and escalate systemic issues requiring further investigation and resolution by engineering teams.
- Monitor network and system performance; report any capacity, performance, or operational concerns.
- Generate network usage and performance reports during emergencies as required.
- Investigate recurring issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement or recommend appropriate fixes or workarounds.
- Provide technical direction and support to subcontractors, as required.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and proposals for additional work or external project opportunities.
- Participate in an on-call roster to provide after-hours system support.
- A strong understanding of digital radio or RF-based Radio communication systems.
- Familiarity with communications infrastructure and applications relevant to public networks.
- Knowledge of DC power systems, battery technologies, and related infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse technical problems and implement practical solutions.
- A customer-focused approach with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including stakeholder engagement and documentation.
- Solid planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Qualifications in engineering, electronics, telecommunications, or equivalent technical experience.
- Availability for full-time on-site work, five days per week, due to the nature of the role.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a baseline security clearance; Australian citizenship is required.
