As the Senior Systems Engineer, you will be at the core of our digital operations, designing, securing, and optimising our vital compute and storage infrastructure for maximum reliability and availability across our healthcare network.
You will be hands-on in the daily administration of our server and storage environment, ensuring smooth operation 24/7. You will also contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of our core infrastructure, including server virtualisation and storage solutions. We are seeking a technical specialist to provide guidance across our IT infrastructure and take ownership of technical issues related to our core IT systems. You will manage and maintain Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Cohesity backups, VMware environments, file services, scripting and automation, system patching, vulnerability remediation, and DR/BCP strategies.
We have two new and exciting opportunities available, one position is a full-time permanent role, while the other is a 12-month contract. You can be based in any of our Group Head Offices in Sydney, Brisbane, or Melbourne, and will be required to participate in an on-call roster outside of business hours.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Design, build, and maintain Cisco Hyperflex and VMware vSAN virtual infrastructure.
- Manage enterprise storage platforms including PureStorage, Dell Isilon, PowerEdge, and Cisco UCS
- Implement and support storage capacity planning, replication, and disaster recovery solutions across datacentres
- Administer backup, monitoring, and infrastructure management tools across virtual and physical environments
- Perform proactive issue detection, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation of storage-related incidents
- Apply firmware, OS, and application updates to storage and virtual server infrastructure to maintain support compliance
- Lead VMware and storage migration projects including hybrid and cloud integration
- Automate storage and virtualization management tasks using orchestration platforms to reduce operational overhead
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for infrastructure-related issues
- Participate in the on-call roster to provide priority support and incident management
Things that work for us:
- Demonstrated experience in IT infrastructure roles within a large and complex enterprise organisation and across Windows Server, Linux, VMware, and hybrid cloud environments
- Thorough knowledge and experience supporting Pure Storage, Dell Isilon & Unity, Cisco UCS Hyperflex and VMWare Virtualisation platform across multiple Data Centres
- Experience administering and securing Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Exchange, and file services and strong knowledge of backup and recovery technologies, system monitoring, patching and automation
- Proven experience with current Microsoft technologies (server, desktop and applications), server hardware and peripherals knowledge and skills
- Experience in the usage of systems configuration and change management processes and documentation
- Ability to identify production issues and suggest proactive remediation, take an active role in incident resolution and deliver future-proofing services
- Experience managing routine IT administration tasks to ensure core storage infrastructure runs smoothly at all times
