The beat offers opportunities to break market-moving news, from shifts in the Australian dollar to changes in mining investment and fiscal strategy. Based in Sydney, we're seeking a versatile journalist who can deliver clear, accurate reporting, develop smart analysis on breaking developments, and produce enterprise that uncovers the deeper trends driving Australia's economy. The ideal candidate has strong news instincts, is comfortable working with data, understands economics and collaborates effectively across teams. The role requires you to cover the central bank, economic indicators, government policy decisions and themes that shape the economic outlook, from labor market trends to trade frictions to housing and many more.
