Civil Designer - Urban Development (12D / AutoCAD) Sydney

A well‑established civil consultancy is seeking an experienced Civil Designer to support its continued growth in the urban development sector. With a strong local reputation built over several decades, the business combines technical depth with a clear long‑term vision.

Be involvemed across the full lifecycle of urban development projects, from early concept design through to delivery. This is well suited to a senior‑level designer who is confident working autonomously, takes ownership of their work, and is looking to broaden their influence within a consultancy environment.

Be responsible for managing design packages while contributing to site inspections, coordinating during delivery phases, and supporting junior team members. As the role evolves, there is genuine scope to step into a small team leadership position.

The Directors and Lead Engineers maintain a hands‑on, collaborative approach and actively encourage input into technical decisions and project strategy. The culture places strong emphasis on quality, practicality, and continuous improvement rather than hierarchy.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivery of civil design across urban development projects
• Preparation of detailed designs using 12D and AutoCAD
• Site inspections and coordination during construction phases
• Mentoring and guidance of junior designers and engineers
• Participation in technical discussions and design planning

Technical Background

• Minimum five years’ experience using 12D and AutoCAD
• Demonstrated capability in site grading and earthworks, stormwater drainage, road and intersection design, OSD, and in‑ground services
• Solid background in urban development projects
• Ability to manage design outputs independently

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
